The Walker in the Landscape

The Walker in the Landscape is a forthcoming 9 part phonographic folk composition and re-interpretation of Caitlin Kiely's project that uses personification to bring a landscape to life, exploring the dynamic between a walker and the life in which they walk on.

The script and talks with Caitlin inspired me to conduct sonic research into landscapes of extraction, culminating in a 3 day trip to Wales where I explored an abandoned slate quarry in the mountains - recording and interacting with the material ecologies of the location through field recordings and improvisation.

These materials were used as the basis for a sound work, alongside contorted folk textures that followed Caitlins spoken word dialogue, seeking to transport the listener to the psycho-spatial entanglement unravelling between the pair

The final project will be released to cassette sometime  in 2024
